Set in beautiful woodlands, Osnabrück Zoo shows off a large variety of animals, from the African Tauernschecken goat to the red-billed toucan to black vultures, you'll discover the full spectrum of zoological diversity. As well as the outdoor and indoor enclosures, visitors can observe rare animals in various aquariums and terrariums.
Osnabrück Zoo has dedicated itself intensively to conservation programmes. As well as many other projects, the zoo is working to save the lowland tapir in Ecuador. The goal of the Artenschutz foundation, established in March 2001 is the conservation of endangered animal species and their habitats. Osnabruck Zoo is one of the zoos involved in the Artenschutz foundation.
Regular research projects are carried out at the zoo for the promotion of science and research and children of all ages, nursery classes and adult groups learn all about zoology in the zoo school. Events, guided tours and exhibitions take place at the zoo all year round.
