Celebrate, experience and enjoy at the Bodenteich Fort in the Lüneburg Heide

The Bodenteich Fort was constructed around 1250 as a moated fort of the knights of Bodendike. The partially still preserved keep from the 14th/15th centuries nowadays serves as a vantage point. It is accessible all year round and also has a small weapon and defence exhibition. In the old Guild Hall the spa administration and the knight’s hall can be found. The Hall is used for events and civil wedding ceremonies. The small fort museum, which can be found on the first floor, displays original findings from the chequered history of Bodenteich.

As well as the fully functioning bake house, the completely reconstructed brewery of the castle site has also been available for all sorts of events since 2005. In the direct vicinity of the fort are a beer-herb and rose garden, plus the “Robin-Hood Castell,” a replica of a medieval wood palisade fort, which today is used as a medieval playground.

Special events:
The Bodenteich Fort is the venue of numerous events like the Schützenfest (Marksmen’s Festival), Robin Hood longbow tournament, creative courses, museum educational programs, the Christmas market, fort concerts, special exhibitions” and baking days with activities on the theme of “Middle Ages and more” and the annual fort spectacle with medieval market (at the end of April, beginning of May) as the highlight.
